Abstract

Homelessness as a policy issue is one that has plagued Canada for a long time. As one of the wealthiest nations on earth our response to homelessness has been lackluster. British Columbia has one of the highest rates of homelessness in Canada. In addition, not much has been done to combat homelessness in Canada and British Columbia for many years. Just recently the federal government expressed renewed interest in combating homelessness. This presentation will show the extent of the homelessness problem in British Columbia and Canada as a whole, in addition it will show what has been done, what has not been addressed, and some suggestions for the future.
