Presentation Title

Determination of Taurine in Swimming Water using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry

Format of Presentation

Poster to be presented the Friday of the conference

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to devise an analytical method using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) for the determination of taurine in swimming pool water. Taurine is an amino acid that is known to have antioxidant properties and is currently being studied for its potential health benefits. Once a protocol has been developed, samples will be taken from a variety of swimming pools around Kamloops and these samples will be analyzed. At the end of this study, a rapid and sensitive analytical method for the determination of taurine in swimming pool water will have been developed.
