Abstract

Solar roadways have been installed in France and The Netherlands -- and now Kamloops. TRU faculty member Michael Mehta, professor of Geography and Environmental Studies, partnered with solar manufacturer Solar Earth to organize the installation of their prototype modules. Dr. Mehta brought on faculty member Amie Schellenberg, Electrical Instructor in the School of Trades and Technology to facilitate the installation; In September 2017, students in the Electrical Foundation Level 1 program were involved in the build and TRU became the host of North America’s first installment of ground mounted solar panels.
