Proposal Abstract

This study focuses on a cross-curricular inquiry program centred on the BC-Integrated Laboratory Network that provides online remote access to analytical instrumentation in chemistry. Through the theoretical lens of Productive Disciplinary Engagement (Engle & Conant, 2002), and a pilot study survey, students indicated that they were highly engaged, specifically in the discipline of science, and this engagement was productive in advancing their learning. Current work, is underway to analyze video recording of students, to investigate how this productive disciplinary engagement develops. This presentation will include a discussion of the following: Outlining the cross-curricular program and the activity facilitated by BC-ILN The Productive Disciplinary Engagement theoretical framework Analysis of video recordings Future work

Technical Requirements:

Projector for PowerPoint presentation
