Abstract

For Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, particularly in the context of the ongoing homelessness and fentanyl crises, SRO (Single Room Occupancy) hotels stand as sites of people’s survival and their unjust deaths. In this paper, I explore the SRO everyday, arguing that tenants are not passive recipients of crisis, but active responders.
