Abstract

Through analysis of quotidian violence in and of Vancouver’s SROs during the long 1970s, I demonstrate that having a roof over one’s head did not always mean that women had housing. I argue that a more nuanced understanding of homelessness is crucial to address low-income women’s vulnerability to gendered violence.
